Flower of the Week: Ranunculus

Did you think its name had a lot of letters? That's nothing compared to the amount of delicate tissue-paper-thin petals it has. Mistaken often for a rose or peony, it lies somewhere beyond both of these. The flower itself is soft-looking, but all its layers give a striking impact, which is why you can find it in our logo. It's Lena's favourite flower, and if you're looking to gift flowers to someone who loves flowers and departs from the traditional, this is our recommendation. A surefire veteran flower lover favourite.

What is the symbolism behind them? They represent charm and attractiveness. Makes total sense in my opinion, the flower itself is cute, and you can't help thinking that they are beautiful. People will pass by when they're on display and stop to take a second glance. "They don't look real," "They look fake," "These are my favourites," to quote a few customers. Nothing is a bigger compliment than something being so ethereal that it cannot be natural. There are so many pictures we have of so many varieties and colours, but we can't include them all, so take a scroll through our Instagram for all the pictures we can offer.
When do we have them? Their season is usually early spring-late summer, like most flowers, but some growers have them outside their season. We love buying local, and ranunculus are best when grown locally. Shoutout to our favourite farms that we always source our ranunculus from: Virgil Greenhouses and Waymar Flowers. Go take a look and say "Hi"!

We love including ranunculus in arrangements whenever they're available. You'll find them at our store in our seasonal bouquets, sometimes in a smaller bouquet of their own. Usually, in the softer pinks, peaches, and whites, we also try to get in more unusual tones like purple and blue. (Shush, you didn't hear this from me, but very rarely we'll even have a promotion in-store for a "buy one ranunculus bouquet and get one free". These promotions will be posted on our Instagram whenever they happen. AGAIN, YOU DIDN'T HEAR IT HERE!)
We hope that you got to know the ranunculus just a bit better or that it gave you a good first impression. This flower holds a specific place in our hearts, and we can't help but share that with you!
